If you’ve seen “IQOS BONDS” and “BLENDS” pop up around Dubai and weren’t sure how they differ from the IQOS you already know, you’re not alone. The names are close to ILUMA and TEREA, and mixing them up is the most common mistake. This guide explains what each product is and what to check before you buy.

What is BONDS by IQOS?
BONDS heats a tobacco stick instead of burning it. According to PMI’s published product details, it has a resistive heater, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and USB-C charging. At its 2022 launch, PMI said a full charge gave up to 20 uses, including three in a row, and the device came in four colours.
Compared with ILUMA, it is meant to be the simpler, more compact option.
What are BLENDS sticks?
BLENDS are the sticks made for BONDS. Launch coverage says BONDS is designed to be used exclusively with them. At launch there were five flavors. The range has grown since. Retailer guides now describe about nine editions, such as:
- Warm: a fuller tobacco feel
- Gold: balanced tobacco with gentle spice
- Rich: woody tobacco with clove
- Purple: blueberry with menthol cooling
- Blossom: the lightest, floral
- Tropical, Summer, Watermelon Mix, Passion Fruit Mix: fruit-led and lighter styles
These descriptions come from retailer guides, not from IQOS. Official wording and which editions are sold can differ by market, so check the pack in your hand.
BONDS vs ILUMA: how they differ

Because the heating methods differ, the sticks aren’t interchangeable. We found no confirmation that BLENDS work in ILUMA or that TEREA works in BONDS, so don’t try it.
What to check before you buy in the UAE
- Match device and stick. BONDS takes BLENDS. ILUMA takes TEREA. Older blade-style IQOS models take HEETS.
- Check where you’re buying. IQOS’s own UAE pages say the product is sold through IQOS.com and authorized stores. Official warranty and registration offers apply only through authorized channels. Third-party sellers may not be able to offer them.
- Look at the packaging. Genuine packs have clear branding, batch information and the required health warnings. Be cautious of packs with missing labels or unusual prices.
- Ask about returns. Policies differ by seller. Some official channels have set return rules, and some stores refuse returns. Check before you pay.
- Know the age limit. IQOS’s UAE page requires you to confirm you’re 18 or over, and some stores set their own higher limit.

Official offers: what we found
IQOS’s UAE site has run a BONDS registration program. At the time of writing, it offers a voucher worth AED 43 toward a first BONDS device, valid until 31 December 2026. It is personal, non-transferable and non-refundable, and the company can change or end it at any time. Check IQOS.com for the current terms.
Which should you pick?
- You already own an ILUMA: stay with TEREA. You don’t need BONDS.
- You want something small and simple: BONDS with BLENDS is the compact option.
- You can’t decide on a flavor: start with one pack of a tobacco-style edition, then try others. Don’t buy a bundle of a flavor you haven’t tried.
- You’re switching from regular cigarettes: heated tobacco still delivers nicotine, so think about what you actually want. If you want to quit nicotine, a doctor or pharmacist can talk through your options.
